My Work

Jan Gerber

Behind every model, every clinic, and every venture is one question: what do people actually need to heal?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that real transformation doesn’t come from following a formula. It comes from meeting people exactly where they are, not where they should be, not where the textbook says they are, but where they truly find themselves in that moment. Everything I do, whether it’s leading a clinic, advising a founder, or building a team, comes from that place.

My professional life sits at the intersection of entrepreneurship, mental health, and human behaviour. I currently serve as CEO and chairman of the Swiss Clinics Group, a small but growing network of boutique medical clinics across Switzerland. I’m also the founder and CEO of Paracelsus Recovery, a private mental health clinic that began as a family project and has since evolved into one of the most recognised centres for ultra-personalised treatment worldwide.

Paracelsus Recovery

When we started Paracelsus Recovery, the goal was simple but ambitious: to create a space where high-profile people in crisis could receive the kind of care they couldn’t find anywhere else. What emerged was the “one client at a time” model, a 360-degree approach that surrounds each person with an integrated team dedicated entirely to their recovery. At the time, it felt radical. Today, it is being quietly replicated in clinics around the world.

But the work didn’t stop there. Through my investment companies, including Panacea Capital, I’ve supported and co-founded several businesses across healthcare, hospitality, and technology. Some succeeded. Others didn’t. Each one taught me something vital about people, systems, and the quiet space between vision and execution. What I’ve come to believe is this: the most effective work, whether clinical or entrepreneurial, is never just about solving problems. It’s about creating the right container for people to show up as they are, with all their contradictions intact.

In the following pages, I’ll explore two major strands of my work in more depth.

Entrepreneurship

is not just about building companies. It’s about building cultures that can hold both excellence and empathy. I’ll share some of the lessons, challenges, and principles that shape the way I lead.

Paracelsus Recovery

I founded Paracelsus Recovery with my family in 2012 in Zurich, guided by a clear vision: to create a sanctuary where people could receive world-class care without judgment and fully tailored to their unique needs. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing lives transformed through our team’s dedication to culturally-competent, compassionate care.

If there’s a thread running through all of this, it’s a commitment to meet people as they are, not as we want them to be. And to create structures, whether in therapy, business, or daily life, that honour both the complexity of being human and the potential for real, lasting change.
