As CEO of Paracelsus Recovery, the world’s most exclusive treatment centre for ultra-wealthy individuals, I advocate for what I call a humanistic pragmatism approach to mental health. For me, this means putting empathy and understanding at the heart of care, so we can arrive at practical, real-world solutions. By truly meeting people where they are i.e., considering their unique circumstances and challenges, we can move beyond one-size-fits-all treatment and create solutions that are tailored to each individual.
Part of this approach involves embracing cutting-edge advancements in mental health treatment, including psychedelic psychotherapy and harm reduction practices. At Paracelsus Recovery, we are one of the very few high-end European treatment centres legally offering ketamine-assisted psychotherapy at our Zurich clinic. I am also preparing to offer other psychedelic treatment options as soon as legislation allows. Switzerland has a long history of supporting psychedelic research (LSD was first synthesised here by Albert Hofmann in 1938) and many clinical trials are currently underway.
Until that moment arrives, I continue to speak openly about the potential of psychedelic psychotherapy, sharing insights on podcasts, at events, and wherever I can to help others understand its role in advancing mental health care.
